FUNNY REASON FOR -> WHY DO DOG's KICK THEIR LEG WHEN YOU SCRATCH THEIR BELLY?

*TICKLE *TICKLE *TICKLE

DOG KICKING LEG AFTER SCRATCH THEIR BELLY
(DOG KICKING LEG AFTER SCRATCH THEIR BELLY)

  • Every dog seems to have that one special spot on his under-body belly or flank that, when scratched, sends his back leg kicking like crazy. It’s odd and amusing and quite irritating, especially because some dogs seems to be as confused by it as their owners are. What’s crazy thing going on?

  • If you’ve got a DOG who loves to get belly rubs, as we do so they get tickled and then you’ve no doubt found “the sweet tickle spot” that gets him kick leg and say STOP….!! This usually happens when you scratch him in his saddle region i.e. the belly, sides, and parts of the DOG’s back. The exact spot varies depending on the DOG. Some DOGs have several spots that get their legs moving.

  • This silly behaviour got us wondering, why do DOGs kick legs, smile back and wag their tail when you scratch their belly?

  • DOG’s shake or kick their legs when you scratch them because of something known as the scratch reflex which all human’s and animals has.

  • It’s a completely an involuntary reaction, where your DOG looks puzzled as you do when it starts to tickle and when you scratch or tickle your DOG’s belly, it irritates the body, much the same way that the wind or a bug might react towards.

  • It charges its nerves under the skin that are connected to the spinal cord (Central Nerves System) and response a message to his leg muscles to kick in an attempt to get rid of the irritant.

  • Turns out, by causing this kick, you’re actually irritating your DOG. So, if making your DOG feel blissful and happy then you’re going to just move to another spot so that it doesn’t cause the kick you back.

  • The scratch reflex isn’t just a funny party trick for your DOG but the veterinarians use the spot to enlighten and identify weather there are any nerve damage or neurological problems.

  • Still, a lot of DOGs realllllly love to have their bellies rubbed, so if your DOG is one of them keep it up the play!

Does your DOG love belly rubs? Does he kick his legs when you scratch him?
